While self isolating, I started scrutinizing the same black and white photograph of my face by adding paint and overlaying images such as birds, horses, bugs, Notre Dame de Paris floor plan , etc. I then further manipulate the printed image with acrylic paint, ink or coloured pencils. The visual tones of colour and imagery often repeat and resonate much like the Acadian (reel) style of music. The Pandemic Acadian Breakdown visual diary series hopes to suspend time with allegorical stories some taken from the media headlines during the global pandemic. The on going diary acts like a visual touchstone and sheds light for future generations, searching for a possible future.
